We have been talking about Belonging, Believing, Being Patient, now tonight-Behaving.  Next week-Be Strong.  Remember to have your child complete their MAP books that they bring home each Wednesday night. It helps them review what they have learned and they get points for bring them back. Ask your child what verse they learned tonight-it is in the MAP book that they bring home.I know it is cold tonight, but come anyway becuase we’ll be in the warmth of the sanctuary. It won’t be long now…The new building is slated to be done by April and we are EXCITED to get in there and have our own space.

The Weekly Boost will   be posted here weekly!  Plus, 2-3 times a week, I will give you other nuggets for encouraging spiritual transformation in your kids.  We’ve updated our children’s link on the Church at the Gate website. Be sure to look at the latest February calendar and links.

This past weekend, we learned about how the News of Jesus Spread (Mt 4:33-25). It was a whirlwind tour. Jesus went around the countryside teaching the people and healing the sick.  His popularity grew with every miracle, and crowds hurried to be near him.  They traveled form far away just to be near the Son of God and to touch him.  Jesus rewarded their long journeys by instantly healing their lifelong illnesses.  Just a touch from his hand or a simple word and suddenly all their pain and suffering were over. Others came to Jesus because he cared that they were hurting.  He cared when no one else did.  And that’s one reason people still come to him today. He cares about them, and he cares about you too.

It is life group time again and I would encourage you to encourage your child to start one. This is a great way to build friendships outside of the church building!   If you are looking for some good ideas for life groups, contact me and I can help. The   form that needs to be filled out was in the bulletins this past week.  The deadline is January 30. Watch for the children’s life groups that will be starting. I will be offering one called “Kids with a Passion for Jesus” on Sunday mornings, so you can incorporate it into your weekend. Class size is limited and is for children who are committed to deepening their walk with the Lord.  Email me ASAP if you want your child to be registered.  The topics that will be covered will range from fasting to “why Prayer works” to “forgiveness” to “the Holy Spirit”. We will be using PrayKids! magazine   so feel free to check out that website. (We have a link on our church website) as well as other supplemental resources and I will be the teacher. It will supplement our regular teaching during 1 one of the service times, so on the weeks that it is offered, I will be sending home the materials covered in the regular classes  so that you can teach it to them at home or you can have them come to 2 services and get it all at church.. I am shooting for 1-2x/month and will expect children to commit to regular attendance. I am VERY excited about this opportunity and depending on the interest level, I may even offer it in 2 different sections so that the class size does not get too large. Ages K-5, with possibility of another section for preschoolers depending on who signs up.      .

 Driving Home the Point

Take a night this week to have some teaching fun with your family with one of the following activities related to this week’s Bible lesson:

· Play “Come to Me” (Preschoolers)
Have your child go to a room in your house that you are not in.  Tell your child to listen for you to call for him or her to com.  Call out, “Come to me.” Then switch roles and allow your child to call for you.  At the end of the game, remind your child that Jesus wants us to come to Him by praying to him.  Pause and let your child pray and talk to Jesus about anything that happened during his or her day.

OR

People Helping People sometimes Jesus helps people by using other people.  Call your church or a local Christian outreach center ( ex. Alpha Center. The Banquet) and ask how your family can help someone in need.  Volunteer for a time when the entire family can be there, working together.

(Be sure to sign your child’s Bible Memory book when completed.)
In your child’s memory book, there is a journal page. Please look at the introduction to  the journal and then encourage you child to draw or write the things that God says to him/her or things that he/she wants to say to God.

1. Write “Jesus” on a Band-Aid. And place it where you’ll see it often.  Whenever you worry, let the band-aid remind you the Jesus will take your burden from you.  (preschool)

OR

 2. At the dinner table, take turns telling  each other about how Jesus gave each of you rest or took away a burden that day. Then ask each other what burdens/worries that each of you would still like Jesus to carry for you and pray that Jesus would lift that burden.

**Each child receives  a MAP book on Wednesday and earns points by bringing back the completed KIDMO MAP book the following week signed by their parent or guardian. Please remember to ask your child to bring you their MAP book and then go over it together with them. If your child learns the memory verse, they get a point for store. Thursdays or Fridays are great days to review because the lesson is still fresh on their minds. **Your children also earn points by attending Go Kids!, memorizing scripture and completing their weekly challenges in their Go Kids! Bible Memory Books, and by bringing their Bible and/or friends to church.)
